Micheal Watts

Michael Watts is a Montreal based, independent dance artist. He began training in Toronto in 2004 and moved to Montreal where most of his learning came from the variety of teachers at Circuit-Est Centre Choréographique and the professional classes from Le Regroupement Québécois de la Danse. Michael’s human, raw, physical, explosive, animalistic dance qualities and natural instinct for performance and movement led him to a cross road, meeting choreographer Dave St-Pierre who quickly hired him for La Pornographie Des Âmes and Un Peu de Tendresse Bordel de Merde. Since January of 2008, Michael has toured throughout Europe; Belgium, France, Germany, Finland, Hungary, Slovenia, as well as in Montreal, Quebec and Toronto and most recently at the Festival d’Avignon. Today, he continues to perform for Dave while developing his own choreographic and teaching skills. Teachers that have influenced him greatly are, Darryl Tracey (Toronto), Angelique Willkie (Brussels), Ted Stoffer (Brussels), and Dana Gingras (Montreal, Gyrotonics/Gyrokinesis).
