Héloise Remy

Choreographer Héloïse Rémy has her origins in France and grew up in Normandy. It is where she discovered dance and where dance discovered her, it is also where she first started her training in classical ballet, at the conservatoire de Rouen. She also started her studies in medical school in Rouen with the intention of doing humanitarian work but it is here that Héloïse Rémy discovered the world of contemporary dance which was a revelation of her true calling. She left her studies in medicine to devote herself entirely to dance and moved to Quebec in 1996. In Montreal she created her first choreographies : du Pareil au Même (99), le monde est petit (2001), Casatierra (2005) et La Traversée (2005). Since 2007, Héloïse has been travelling the world with La Traversée (The Crossing), which is a choreography created for groups of people to breathe in unison. It is an adventure which unites her research from her beginnings: the meeting of art and
humanity, the belief that growing as an artist and human comes from meeting with others from everywhere. Héloïse Rémy's influences come from meditative practice, vocalization, yoga, aïkido and latin percussions. www.lamadeo.co
