Lila-Mae G. Talbot
Born in Quebec, Canada, Lila-Mae Talbot received eight years of classical training at the École Superieure de Ballet Contemporain and obtained her first professional experience with the Jeune Ballet du Québec , where she worked with many Canadian and overseas choreographers. She joined Les Grands Ballet Canadiens in 2003 dancing the classical and contemporary works of George Balanchine, Kim Brandstrup, Stijn Celis, Ohad Naharin, and Helgi Tomasson. In 2006 she worked with The New English Contemporary Ballet (uk) under the direction of Niall McMahon. In July of the same year, she started exploring a new way of moving including break dance and improvisation with Rubberbandance Group. While dancing with Rubberbandance Group, Lila-Mae was also involved in many independent productions with various Montreal choreographers, such as Louis-Martin Charest and Shawn Hounsel. She received grants from « Conseil des arts et des lettres du Quebec both to participate at the Impulstanz festival in Vienna in 2008 and to create a collaboration in 2010 with Decalage Company (UK) where she also taught repertoire and the fundamental ideas of the company. Currently Lila-Mae is continuing to explore and perform with Rubberbandance Group in Montreal.
